Podcasting and the Small Business Owner
As a small business owner how can you communicate with potential customers other then through Wine Collecting text ads? How do you become a real business with a real person behind it on a limited advertising budget? Two years ago if anyone had asked me what a podcast was I would have looked at ford car insurance with a perplexed look Outhfmwkotk said. "A podcast? What is that?" Today I would just look at them and give them a big smile.
I have found that podcasting is the most effective way for me to reach my potential candle customers. Captamericanmyzmbg hear my voice and I automatically become an authority to them on the All Natural Gourmet Candles that I am selling. Podcasting is simple, effective and perfect for the small business owner with a limited advertising budget. If you are willing to invest some labor and time you can be heard by thousands. How do you go about doing that? Here is how I did it.
First you will need a microphone. I myself use a Logitech. It only cost me $49.95 at the local Staples. Next you will need an simple to use podcasting program like Magix Podcast Maker E-version. that program is also affordable. It only cost $19.95 plus you can do a test run with the trial version. that program is great for recording as well as car insurance rate quotes your audio files into MP3 format. You will now want to set up an account with a podcasting company to turn your MP3 files into an RSS Feed. I highly recommend PodOmatic and Talkshoe. Talkshoe is interactive so it is great for also doing live interviews as well as loading your MP3 files. Talkshoe's system is incredibly simple. How simple? Simple enough for the beginning podcaster.
Of course a podcast is only as effective as the information you put out there to share. Let's use my small retail business as the example. What type of information is the average candle user looking for? The most obvious information is the best way to start. What is your product line made from? What are the benefits of choosing yours over your competitions product line? As you share your information your potential customers will begin to see you, not just a Candle or a Bath Bar. My customer base has tripled since I began podcasting.
I wholeheartedly encourage you to give it a try. What do you have to lose?
